Role Of The Sugar Association In Causing Heart Diseases

So far, we have only heard about the cholesterol and fat in increasing the incidence of cardiovascular diseases. However, the factual truth has been hidden with a motive. The sugar industry has financed the professors of the Harvard University to manipulate the original research results. As per the reports, the results of clinical trials have been skewed up for various benefits. Several research scientists from the University of California, San Francisco, were funded by the massive sugar industries to keep away the association of sweeteners with different cardiac problems. A brighter and bigger focus was intentionally offered to fats and its byproducts.

There is substantial evidence to support the link between the Harvard School of Public Health and the Sugar Research Foundation. During 1954, Henry Hass, the president of the Sugar Research Foundation spoke about the importance of adopting a low-fat diet to prevent heart diseases. He wanted the American Society of Sugar Beet Technologists to capitalize on opportunities to promote the growth of sugar processing industries. This approach allowed the sugar businesses to enhance their market share as well as scaled their growth tremendously. The transparency in research studies should be amplified to overrule such issues. It is imperative to emphasize on unbiased and quality research for valid claims.

Understanding The Need And Effectiveness Of Flossing

Flossing has so far been insisted by the federal government as well as the dentists to prevent gum disease and cavities. It was also claimed to protect the teeth. But, now with the recent guidelines provided by the Departments of Agriculture, Health and Human Services things seem to differ. In the latest press release, the American Academy of Periodontology have expressed the inadequacy of flossing to restore gum health. There was less conformational evidence to support. As per the reports, there were no significant research studies to claim that flossing prevents periodontal disease or cavities. And, the open secret was finally let out.

Previously in a randomized study that was conducted during 2011, there were a few weak pieces of evidence. Flossing regularly for six months reduced the incidence of plaque formation. However, they could not bring out trustworthy clinical studies to support the efficacy of flossing. It did not prevent the formation of cavities. Professor Dr. Philippe Hujoel, from the department of oral health sciences, University of Washington stated that the benefits of flossing are still not proven substantially. More research is required to link flossing with the prevention of dental decay. However, the American Dental Association states that brushing and flossing are necessary to protect your gums and teeth.

There are a few mediocre proofs that suggest flossing can reduce gingivitis. But, the quality of the research studies was found to be low. Flossing can only reverse gum problems in the initial stages. The experts say that it cannot prevent the bone loss in the case of periodontal disease. Inflammation in the gum progresses to other dental diseases despite flossing. Dr. Wayne Aldredge, who leads the American Academy of Periodontology says that flossing cannot prevent the periodontal disease. It is a slow and deceptive tooth problem which requires five to ten years for development. Thus, more accurate studies are needed to support the benefits of flossing.

Update On The Health Emergency Program

A major thing happened in the history of WHO that they have agreed to the transformation in the WHO’s history by establishing brand new Health Emergencies Program. This program adds operational benefits for humanitarian emergencies to go by its traditional and normative roles. WHO will now try to strengthen and will get the expertise of the partners and other member states.

For the new agreement and the fulfillment of the responsibilities, the members have prepared and agreed on a budget of around $494 million for the 2016-2017 program. There is another amount of $160 million allowed for the emergency situations where WHO will work. This budget was welcomed by the delegates who have made the new health emergency program. They have also noted the timeline and the new implementation plan.

There is an Independent and Advisory committee formed for the new program. The delegates encouraged the current collaboration with UN to align the outbreaks and for any biological emergencies within the Interagency Committee capacity. The delegates requested the Director-General of WHO to inform about any progress in the establishment or the operation of the program. The WHO people have published the information of the accountable person if anyone needs any advice. They can directly contact the WHO people as their mobile numbers were also published.
